The Beverly Hills hot spot celebrates its 25th anniversary with the style and class that have made it “Hollywood’s living room”
SPEND JUST A FEW MINUTES in the driveway of The Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills and you begin to understand its role to the Hollywood community. There’s Paul McCartney checking in for a weekend…Angelina Jolie being whisked inside for a press junket … Tom Cruise grabbing a bite at Culina…Pink lounging by the pool. Since it opened in 1987, the hotel has existed at the epicenter of the entertainment industry, winning the hearts of its biggest and most important stars with its glamorous locale, exacting service and industry savvy. Now, as The Four Seasons celebrates its 25th anniversary, Watch! recounts 25 things we love about this entertainment oasis.
1 The hotel played host to Watch! magazine’s very first award-season-themed photo shoot in July 2010, featuring Mentalist stars Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti.
2 You can see more stars in its lobby in 20 minutes than you will all day on a studio lot.
3 Its owners, Robert and Joseph Cohen, live in custom suites atop the hotel with their wives, Beverly and Sue, who overlook the property proudly. The patriarch brothers actually design and oversee the hotel’s landscaping, including the beautiful succulents and citrus trees.
4 The Four Seasons’ striking floral displays are designed weekly by Eric Buterbaugh, who has gained worldwide fame as a celebrity florist and charges clients upward of $7,000 a week for his designs.
5 The hotel spent $38 million renovating its guest rooms, meeting spaces and Culina, its Italian restaurant.
6 There are 285 guest rooms and suites throughout the property, spread over 16 floors.
7 The Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is the first of its brand to have iPads in all its guest rooms and suites with unique technology that lets guests order in-room dining, place housekeeping requests and make spa treatments and restaurant reservations.
8 The hotel hosts 80 percent of the film world’s press junkets, guaranteeing you’ll see one major star each time you visit.
9 Its general manager, Mehdi Eftekari, began at the hotel in 1988 as director of food and beverage.
10 Culina, the Four Seasons’ Italian restaurant, boasts a $25,000 pasta machine and $30,000 gelato machine.
11 The restaurant also offers L.A.’s only “crudo bar,” offering creative raw seafood preparations with infused olive oils.
