Although she faced many hardships throughout her adolescent years, Eve is proud of where she came from and the journey she took to attaining success. "You can design your life," she says. "I think we put limits on ourselves."

"I don't want to sit there and be always agreeing or not speaking up enough. I want to make sure I'm showing up and I'm present 100 percent of the time," says the performer on what made her the most excited—yet nervous—for her role as a host on The Talk.

Eve is a music trailblazer. She is the first winner of the best rap/song collaboration GRAMMY® in 2001 for "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" with Gwen Stefani, and also the first female rapper to debut with a No. 1 album for Let There Be Eve... Ruff Ryder's First Lady in 1999.

Although the world of hip-hop is a mostly male dominated industry, that never stopped Eve from achieving her dreams. "When I started rapping in high school, I always had to battle dudes. I loved it because they were like, 'Who's the chick?,'" says the artist of her early days of rapping.

The award-winning performer believes that The Talk gives her the perfect platform to be seen by millions of girls just like her who couldn't imagine themselves where she is either.

On what fashion trend she is currently loving to wear on The Talk, Eve says, "I love fashion, I love clothes... a little thing that I'm doing is wearing T-shirts. I wore a Biggie shirt, Sade. I had on a Diana Ross shirt. It's a little thing, but it makes me feel good because music is my everything."

With a past in television as lead and co-executive producer for the UPN sitcom Eve, the entertainer says that daytime television is a whole new experience. "I'm learning a lot. I get nervous, but I think when you don't, that's when you should quit."

Everything in moderation

It's all about balance for Eve when it comes to living a healthy life. "I do allow myself indulgences like french fries and chocolate; sugar is my bad thing. I walk a lot. I go on hikes. I try to stay pretty active. Water. It's a cliché but the sh*t really works."

"I met the ladies and saw that they were exactly what I saw on TV—that was a big deal to me because I was like, 'What if that's just how they are on camera?!' But exactly who you see on screen is who you see off screen." — Eve on her first impressions of The Talk hosts.

"My husband and I were talking and I was like, 'What if this happens?' I like my life in London. Then it came and I said, 'I want to do this.' I'm ready for a new platform at this place in my life," says the star on when she first got the offer to be the new host on The Talk.

When asked what she brings to the table at The Talk, Eve responds, "Hopefully positivity. I always want to try to be positive, compassionate. I don't ever want to sound ugly, judge-y, or disrespectful."

Eve's favorite morning ritual? Praying is number one on her list. "I pray to God before I start my day: Thank you, God, for this beautiful day."

London calling

"Being able to go to the countryside, but also being influenced by Afrobeats and grime. That's what my new album is, it's worldly. I've been very influenced in the way I dress, my sense of style. Even Sharon said to me, 'You are kind of British.'" — Eve on the influence that living in the UK has had on her life.

On how she maintains her long distance relationship with husband Maximillion Cooper, the performer admits, "It's hard. But we both travel so much... We're figuring it out because he loves when I'm happy and I love when he's happy. That's how we made it work."
