Meet the resident good guys Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi of CBS' drama series Evil, who took a break from the dark side to glam up for a Watch cover shoot. "My character," says Mike Colter, Evil's almost-priest David Acosta, "is on the journey of a priest. He's supposed to be—chaste and sort of changing."

Aasif Mandvi takes time to reflect

"One of the realities you realize as you get older in this business is that it's all up and down," Aasif Mandvi tells Watch in the September-October 2019 issue. "That's how this business goes, so you can't take yourself too seriously at any moment."

Katja Herbers opens new doors

"[Evil's creators] were looking for someone who can do some drama," Katja Herbers tells Watch! in the September-October 2019 issue, "but also has a lightness, has a bit of a twinkle sometimes, can bring some fun to this darkness."

Mike Colter keeps things cool

"Will we gloat when we're right?" Mike Colter asks in reference to Acosta's and Bouchard's differing stances. "I don't know, but we have these moments where it's a healthy debate. And perhaps that's our flirtation, perhaps that's our relationship."

"I am quite a scaredy-cat myself, so it frightened me to read her story at first and to envision it a little bit," says Katja Herbers of her Evil alter ego Kristen Bouchard.

"We get each other," says Mike Colter regarding his relationship with costars Katja Herbers and Aasif Mandvi. "And I feel like the characters can go any way we want them to go."

Mike Colter's many talents sparkle

Before he was cast as David Acosta in CBS' new drama series Evil, Mike Colter achieved cult-star status for his titular role in the Marvel TV series Luke Cage.

"I was raised in an Indian Muslim family, and it was very common for my grandparents to talk about ghosts, and demons, spirits, things like that," shares Aasif Mandvi tells Watch! in the September-October 2019 issue. "It was just the tapestry of how they grew up and what they believed."

Katja Herbers is a funny girl

"I think [Evil's creators] were interested in my comedy work, because I come from comedy in Holland," says Katja Herbers, who cites Julia Louis-Dreyfus as one of her favorite actors.

Aasif Mandvi knows good humor

Many Evil viewers will recognize Aasif Mandvi as a former The Daily Show fixture, where his satirical sketches such as "Paging Dr. Mandvi" left a lasting comedic mark.

Though psychologist Kristen Bouchard flirts with danger and takes risks, Katja Herbers tells Watch! that her alter ego isn't totally reckless: "If somebody's threatening her, she could just give them something back, throw them off their game. She's not easily intimidated. Maybe underneath, but she's never gonna show it."

"There's a cohesion that's happened because we're working together," says Aasif Mandvi his Evil castmates. "But I feel like we're also the kind of people that all get along organically."
