Hollow Knight Silksong, the eagerly awaited title from Team Cherry, has been making waves since its release almost three months ago. Garnering millions of sales and earning five nominations at The Game Awards 2025, including a nod for Game of the Year, the game has proven to be a massive success. Despite this triumph, the developers are not slowing down. Team Cherry is already hard at work on new DLC content for Silksong and is even contemplating projects beyond the Hollow Knight universe.
Expanding Silksong with Fresh Content
In a recent interview, it was revealed that Team Cherry is developing additional content for Hollow Knight Silksong. During a discussion, Ari Gibson mentioned the character Steel Assassin Sharpe, hinting at their future involvement. “Just waiting in the wings…One of those enemies, a little suite of Sharpe and their companions…all of these pieces need polish, and polish takes time,” he stated. This indicates that while the studio is eager to introduce new elements, the process requires careful attention and time.
Enquiries about the Village of Lions also suggest that there are more plans in store. “We will make sure to deliver on all of our obligations,” added Gibson, hinting at exciting updates to come. However, the exact timeline for these DLC updates remains uncertain, as Team Cherry continues to follow its meticulous development approach.
Beyond Hollow Knight: New Horizons
Looking to the future, Team Cherry’s co-creators, Ari Gibson and William Pellen, have expressed a desire to explore new ideas beyond the Hollow Knight series. They acknowledge that time is a factor, with Gibson humorously noting the constraints imposed by the “time concern” of mortality. Despite this, the duo remains enthusiastic about crafting more games, potentially diverging into different genres and themes, while still retaining their signature style of grand worlds and intriguing characters.
Gibson clarified that while they are excited to branch out creatively, they aren’t tired of the Hollow Knight series. In fact, he stated, “if they were forced to make another Hollow Knight game right now, it’d be a joy.” This enthusiasm underscores their commitment to both continuing and expanding their creative horizons.

Despite the roaring success of Hollow Knight Silksong, Team Cherry is not resting on their laurels, as they are already immersed in developing DLC and envisioning new projects beyond the beloved universe.
