Tekken’s Katsuhiro Harada Departs Bandai Namco

Katsuhiro Harada, a name synonymous with the Tekken series, is marking the end of an era. As the creative force behind the legendary fighting game franchise, Harada has announced his departure from Bandai Namco at the conclusion of 2025. This news coincides with Tekken’s historic 30th anniversary, a milestone that Harada believes is the perfect moment to step away.

Katsuhiro Harada’s Departure from Bandai Namco

Katsuhiro Harada, the Executive Director and Producer of the Tekken series, has shared that he will be leaving Bandai Namco at the end of 2025. In a heartfelt statement, Harada expressed that after dedicating over three decades to the development of Tekken, it is the right time to close this chapter. Over the past four to five years, he has gradually transferred his responsibilities, including story and worldbuilding, to the talented team at Bandai Namco.

While Harada will no longer be with Bandai Namco, he plans to remain connected with the community. He will attend the Tekken World Tour Global Finals in Malmo, Sweden, at the end of January. Additionally, Harada has released a special 60-minute Tekken DJ-style mix on Soundcloud, a personal project reflecting on his journey with the series.

This departure has sent ripples through the Fighting Game Community (FGC), as Harada concludes his 31-year tenure. However, this isn’t the end for the renowned director, who has hinted at revealing his future plans soon. Bandai Namco has assured fans that they will continue to honor Harada’s vision, focusing on community feedback to maintain Tekken’s global legacy as a beloved fighting game franchise.
