Things You Should Prioritise in Borderlands 4

Navigating the expansive world of Borderlands 4 can be a daunting task for new players. With a vast open world brimming with opportunities for exploration, quality loot, and the search for the vault, it’s crucial to make smart decisions early. Here are nine key actions to take as you embark on your adventure in Borderlands 4.

At the start of the game, players can choose a Vault Hunter with a particular affinity. The reading of character details is never exciting, but it is important to choose a hero according to the style of your favourite game.  For instance, Amon is a close-quarter fighter who likes shotguns. Vex can increase her impact by cloning.

Acquire the Digirunner Promptly

The large Borderlands 4 map has a lot of quests and other things to do, so getting around fast is important. Meet the Digirunner, a motorcycle-like vehicle that you can obtain in the early game. The vehicle was acquired during the ‘Down and Out’ mission and allows you to quickly travel between objectives and take care of a few enemies.

Stay Alert for Fishing Spots

The Bottomland Borderlands 4 fishing mechanic was added as a part of exploration. Look for bubbly areas in the water to locate fish that drop you random loot.  Fishing in the early game is a great activity to take part in; not every catch would be valuable, but you can find some rare treasures.

Prioritise Storage Deck Upgrades (SDUs)

At Borderlands 4, SDU (Storage Deck Upgrade) increases the limit of the items (loot) you can collect. Moreover, as you keep collecting loot, your backpack gets filled rapidly.  Thus, the SDU upgrade will increase the storage of weapons, ammo, and other items. In the beginning, focus on maximising your backpack and your favourite weapon ammunition for a longer gunfight.

Master Your Gun’s Alt-Fire Mode

Borderlands 4 contains an impressive array of guns, each with its own characteristics. A lot of guns come with alt-fire modes to add versatility. Players should explore and discover what works best for them using the various modes, which can change ammunition types or add energy shields.

Optimise Your Jetpack Usage

By getting early access to the jetpack, players can traverse their environment and gain some tactical advantages when in combat. When in battle, you’ll want to hover and dash to add extra mobility. This extra mobility will allow you to dodge the sweeps of melee-focused foes. You can also slam onto the ground and deal additional damage to enemies as well.

Ensure Action Skills Are Equipped

As you gain more skill points over time, it’s time to equip Action Skills and make use of each Vault Hunter’s ability. These skills can quickly and efficiently turn the battle around in favour of the player, but the player has to manually choose and equip these skills for the effects to take place. Capstones obtained through skill trees are manually selected as well. 

Replay Missions for Added Rewards

Borderlands 4 has introduced a new feature of replaying missions to receive rewards. While this option may not be available for all missions, if the ones that offer good loot, XP and currency are available for replay, you should make use of this feature to strengthen your arsenal and powers early on.

Try “Abduction Injunction” Side Mission

You can kick things off with the Abduction Injunction mission to get a taste of the side missions in Borderlands 4. This mission is available almost immediately after you secure the first safehouse. It gives you your first look at the landscape while also being linked to other quests. In addition, it teaches you about a few key locations in the game and their importance.
