ALGS Championship Unveils New Apex Legends Map Pool

The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Championship is set to create waves next year in Japan with a notable change to its map lineup. As Electronic Arts (EA) gears up for this highly anticipated event, fans and players alike can expect new dynamics on the battlefield.

The Map Shake-Up

In a bold move, the upcoming ALGS Championship will see Olympus replace Broken Moon in the map pool. This adjustment marks a strategic shift as World’s Edge, Storm Point, E-District, and now Olympus will serve as the competitive arenas for the championship. According to sources, the decision followed extensive feedback from the community after teams had the opportunity to test Olympus.

Olympus, which underwent significant changes for Season 27, features revamped points of interest and enhancements to the Trident vehicle. However, its inclusion hasn’t been universally welcomed, drawing mixed reactions from the community and pro players alike. Jonathan ‘Wait I am Trash’ Naftzger, an Apex Legends coach, voiced concerns over the decision-making process, criticizing the lack of player consensus before Olympus was added to the ALGS map pool.

What is the ALGS Championship?

The ALGS Championship stands as the pinnacle of competitive Apex Legends, concluding Year 5 and ushering in a new season. Set in Sapporo, Japan, from January 15th to 18th, 2026, this international event will bring together 40 teams vying for a share of the $2 million prize pool.

The tournament format includes a Group Stage with a Round-Robin setup, followed by a Bracket Stage. The top 20 teams will then advance to the Finals. The championship winner will be determined through a Match Point Format, requiring the victor to reach 50 points and secure a first-place finish, earning a grand prize of $600,000.
