AMD FX-9590 CPU Pushed to Its Limits to Run Battlefield 6, Achieving Playable Framerates

The gaming world has been buzzing with the latest news about Battlefield 6’s performance on older hardware. Despite the technical demands of modern games, the seasoned AMD FX-9590 CPU shows it can still keep up, even without TPM 2.0 support. This discovery highlights the impressive optimization work done by the game’s developers to accommodate a wide range of systems.

Performance on Legacy Hardware

In a recent YouTube video, Fully Buffered demonstrated Battlefield 6’s performance on two older CPUs: the Intel Core i7-2600K and the AMD FX-9590. While the Intel CPU lacked Secure Boot support, preventing the game from launching, the AMD FX-9590 managed to run the game seamlessly due to its Secure Boot support. This reveals that TPM 2.0 support isn’t a necessity for running the game, contrary to some expectations.

Gameplay Experience with the AMD FX-9590

Despite being over a decade old, the AMD FX-9590, when paired with an RX 5700 8 GB GPU, delivers a surprisingly smooth experience in Battlefield 6. In Conquest mode, featuring 64 players, the game maintains a mid-30s FPS at 1080p, occasionally peaking into the 40s. By adjusting the resolution and settings, players can push the game into the mid-40s FPS range. The CPU runs at near 98% utilization, demonstrating its full capacity to deliver a playable experience.

This achievement showcases the developers’ dedication to optimizing Battlefield 6 for low-spec systems, ensuring its enjoyment across varying hardware capabilities. The technical team emphasized this optimization, as millions of beta players, many with minimum specs or below, tested the game. This approach was crucial for overcoming the Xbox Series S’s limitations, enhancing Battlefield 6 from a technical perspective.

Battlefield 6 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. For more insights, readers are encouraged to explore various reviews and reports on the game’s performance across platforms.
