AMD has taken a major leap forward in its technological journey, revealing a significant milestone in its financial performance and future product roadmap. The tech giant has reported record-breaking earnings for the third quarter of 2025 and provided exciting updates on its upcoming products, including the highly-anticipated EPYC Venice “Zen 6” CPUs and Instinct MI400 GPUs slated for a 2026 release.

AMD’s Impressive Financial Performance in Q3 2025

The latest earnings report from AMD showcases a remarkable achievement, with the company posting revenues of $9.2 billion, marking a 36% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by key segments, including the Data Center and Client & Gaming divisions. The Data Center segment alone brought in $4.3 billion, reflecting a 22% year-over-year growth, while the Client & Gaming segment saw an impressive 73% increase, reaching $4.0 billion. However, the Embedded segment experienced a slight decline of 8% from the previous year.

During the earnings call, Dr. Lisa Su, AMD’s CEO, confirmed that the groundbreaking EPYC Venice CPUs, utilizing TSMC’s 2nm technology and Zen 6 architecture, are set to make their debut in 2026. These processors are already demonstrating significant performance improvements in lab testing, positioning them as formidable successors to the current Zen 5-based Turin CPUs. Multiple cloud OEM partners have successfully launched the first Venice platforms, indicating strong market readiness for these cutting-edge processors.

We remain on track to launch our next-generation 2-nanometer Venice processors in 2026. Venice silicon is in the labs and performing very well, delivering substantial gains in performance, efficiency and compute density. Customer pull and engagement for Venice are the strongest we have seen, reflecting our competitive positioning and the growing demand for more data center compute. Multiple cloud OEM partners have already brought their first Venice platforms online, setting the stage for broad solution availability and cloud deployments at launch.

The Future of AI with Instinct MI400 Accelerators

AMD’s foray into AI is gaining momentum with the upcoming release of the Instinct MI400 accelerators paired with Venice CPUs. These new chips promise to deliver up to 40PFLOPs of compute power and offer a substantial 432 GB of HBM4 memory with a speed of 19.6 TB/s. The MI400 series is poised to rival NVIDIA’s Rubin platform, setting new benchmarks for AI performance. Recent collaborations with Oracle and the US Department of Energy underscore the confidence in AMD’s technology, with Oracle deploying tens of thousands of MI450 GPUs by 2027 and the DOE selecting MI430X GPUs for its Discovery supercomputer project.

Our data center AI business is entering its next phase of growth with customer momentum building rapidly ahead of the launch of our next-gen MI400 Series accelerators and Helios rack scale solutions in 2026. The MI400 Series combines a new compute engine with industry-leading memory capacity and advanced networking capabilities to deliver a major leap in performance for the most demanding AI training and inference workloads. Oracle announced they will also be a lead launch partner for the MI450 Series, deploying tens of thousands of MI450 GPUs across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure beginning in 2026 and expanding through 2027 and beyond.

The U.S. Department of Energy also selected our upcoming MI430X GPUs and EPYC Venice CPUs to power Discovery, the next flagship supercomputer at Oak Ridge designed to set the standard for AI-driven scientific computing and extend U.S. high-performance computing leadership. Our MI430X GPUs are designed specifically to power nation-scale AI and supercomputing programs, extending our leadership, powering the world’s most powerful computers to enable the next generation of scientific breakthroughs.

Ryzen CPUs and Gaming Sector Achievements

In the consumer market, AMD’s Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs have become a vital revenue driver, achieving record sales numbers recently due to their superior performance and efficiency. Expectations are high for a refresh of AMD’s 3D V-Cache CPUs around CES, and the anticipated Zen 6-based Ryzen offerings are scheduled for the latter half of 2026.

Desktop CPU sales reached an all-time high with record channel sell-in and sellout led by robust demand for our Ryzen 9000 processors, which deliver unmatched performance across gaming, productivity and content creation applications. OEM sell-through of Ryzen-powered notebooks also increased sharply in the quarter, reflecting sustained end customer pull for premium gaming and commercial AMD PCs.

The gaming sector has also seen remarkable growth, with revenues surging by 181% year-over-year to $1.3 billion. This increase is largely driven by the success of AMD’s Radeon and custom SoC businesses, as well as a strong performance from the Radeon RX 9000 GPUs based on RDNA 4, which are now more accessible at MSRP pricing.

In gaming, revenue increased 181% year-over-year to $1.3 billion. Semi-custom revenue increased as Sony and Microsoft prepared for the upcoming holiday sales period. In gaming graphics, revenue and channel sell-out grew significantly, driven by the performance per dollar leadership of our Radeon 9000 family. FSR 4, our machine learning upscaling technology that boosts frame rates and creates more immersive visuals saw rapid adoption this quarter with the number of supported games doubling since launch to more than 85.
