Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Remake – Mounting Evidence Points to Impending Announcement

Since 2023, there have been rumors for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake and this rumour has been growing in 2025 as well. Ubisoft remains officially mum on the prospect of Black Flag remake for modern gaming, however, new developments suggest an announcement may come soon.

At a recent fan convention, actor Matt Ryan who voices protagonist Edward Kenway said some things that raised more eyebrows. A fan asked Ryan if he had completed the game. Ryan confirmed that he completed the game, and then said he might have to play it again. Ryan then cryptically claimed his comment had a reason, but he couldn’t say much more and indicated confidentiality agreements are in place.

Statue Makers Inadvertently Reference Unannounced Project

Besides this, there are other reasons to believe that Edward Kenway may return. Earlier this month, Pure Arts, the company behind the high-quality Assassin’s Creed character statues, shared Edward’s absence from their current lineup during a livestream. The hosts were not clear whether a Black Flag remake had been announced or not, but they said, “there’s going to be something going on with Edward, and our next PVC scale statue will reflect that accordingly.”

Multiple Remakes in Ubisoft’s Pipeline

Ubisoft’s CEO said last year that there are several remakes of Assassin’s Creed in development. These pieces of work aim to modernize the classic entries of the franchise, but at the same time, maintain their essence.

As gamers wait for the official confirmation for Black Flag remake, the Assassin’s Creed franchise continues to be developed. Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the newest member of the series, just got a huge update that introduces a Critical Role crossover and new difficulty mode.
