Ubisoft has officially confirmed the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing an end to a year filled with speculation and reports. This exciting release is set for December 2, 2025, marking a significant addition to the platform’s gaming library.
An Exciting New Journey
The announcement was made through Ubisoft’s fall roadmap update on their YouTube channel. This update not only revealed the eagerly awaited release date but also introduced new features for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Players can anticipate an Advanced Parkour feature alongside several notable improvements to the parkour system, even if the advanced option is not engaged. Additionally, new free story quests and Animus quests are on the horizon, offering players more adventures to embark upon.
Experiencing Feudal Japan
Charles Benoit, the game director of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, expressed excitement about the game’s Nintendo debut. “We are delighted to bring Assassin’s Creed Shadows to Nintendo players,” he stated. Players will be able to navigate the captivating world of feudal Japan, whether stealthily as Naoe or in combat as Yasuke, both on-the-go and at home with the Nintendo Switch 2.
Content and Compatibility Highlights
While various free content updates outlined in the roadmap will be immediately available for the Switch 2 version, the Claws of Awaji paid DLC expansion is set to arrive separately in 2026. However, players will benefit from cross-progression via Ubisoft Connect, allowing them to seamlessly continue their journey on different platforms. Additionally, the physical edition of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available as a game-key card version for Switch 2 users. This release also marks the first project under Ubisoft’s new Vantage Studios subsidiary, following its establishment to oversee key franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.
The much-anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for December 2, 2025, complete with exciting new features and compatibility options.
