ASUS Unveils ROG Matrix RTX 5090 D V2, Achieving 28,000+ Points in Time Spy Extreme

ASUS has unveiled a special edition graphics card for the Chinese market, adding more excitement to their lineup. The 30th Anniversary ROG Matrix RTX 5090 D V2 is not just a celebratory release but a unique version tailored specifically for China due to certain restrictions. This new variant comes with subtle downgrades but maintains the powerhouse reputation of the ROG series.

ASUS ROG Matrix RTX 5090 D V2: A Tailored Solution for China

The Chinese version of the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 has been released, offering a slightly different configuration from the standard model. With only 1,000 units available globally, this limited edition card stands out with its adjusted features. Due to import restrictions, the Chinese variant comes with less VRAM but retains the visual appeal of the original. In a YouTube showcase, ASUS’s General Manager Tony highlighted the impressive design of the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 D V2 alongside earlier Matrix models.

The ROG Matrix RTX 5090 D V2 is rated at 800W and includes both a 16-pin power connector and the ASUS HPWR connector for compatibility with ASUS BTF motherboards. While similar to its counterpart, it features a 384-bit memory bus and 24 GB of GDDR7 memory, making it slightly less potent in tasks demanding substantial VRAM.

Performance Benchmarks and Overclocking Potential

When powered up and fully loaded, the GPU nearly hits 800W in FurMark tests, clocking at about 3050 MHz, a speed that exceeds the reference model’s boost clock. While the temperature can rise to over 70°C during intensive testing, ASUS’s Tony moves on to the 3DMark benchmark. The card scores an impressive 26,637 points in Time Spy Extreme, and with overclocking, it can reach 28,638 points with a frequency of 3255 MHz.

The temperatures remained manageable during 3DMark testing, staying near 60°C. Future plans include experimenting with liquid nitrogen settings to push the card further. While the exact number of units for the Matrix RTX 5090 D V2 remains undisclosed, expectations are set for a hefty price, likely starting at $4000, reflecting the increasing costs of premium GPUs.
