Bandai Namco Studios Singapore Joins the Ranks as a Nintendo Subsidiary

Nintendo is making a significant move to bolster its game development capabilities by entering into a share transfer agreement with Bandai Namco Studios. This strategic acquisition will see Bandai Namco Studios Singapore (BNSS) become a subsidiary under the new name, Nintendo Studios Singapore. The move is expected to enhance Nintendo’s development structure and solidify its presence in the gaming industry.

Nintendo plans to acquire 80% of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore shares on April 1st, 2026, with the remaining shares to follow after a ‘certain period.’ Reports suggest that this acquisition will have a minimal impact on Nintendo’s financial results for the fiscal year.

BNSS has a rich history of contributing to the development of Nintendo games, boasting a diverse portfolio that spans various genres. Notably, the studio has been involved in developing popular titles like Splatoon 3, which has fostered competitive communities through tournaments and leagues. The North American league, featuring this game, is currently ongoing and set to enter the Playoffs on December 30th.

Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has also been instrumental in the development of fighting games like Tekken 7 and 8, contributing to the latter’s network library. These games have become a staple in the fighting game community, with numerous tournaments such as the Tekken World Tour and the European Tekken Cup.
