The introduction of bots in Battlefield 6 multiplayer has stirred up quite the conversation among fans. To address the community’s concerns, Battlefield lead producer David Sirland has turned to social media to clarify the game’s use of bots in online matches.
In the latest installment of EA’s Battlefield series, bots are a common sight in standard matches that struggle with player shortages. This has led to player confusion regarding the circumstances under which bots are deployed in the game.
Sirland utilized his social media platform to tackle the “confusion” surrounding bots, providing insights into when players might encounter them and reassuring that feedback from the Battlefield 6 community is being taken seriously.
Clearing the Air on Bot Usage
Since its launch on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, players have observed bots in game modes with large lobbies, such as Conquest. Despite selling a staggering 7 million copies in just three days, players find themselves in bot-filled matches. Sirland emphasized that bots are only introduced in specific scenarios, such as when pre-round waiting exceeds three minutes. This intervention ensures players aren’t stuck waiting indefinitely, with bots exiting the game as human players join.
2: you see no other players
Well, the reason for that is you are first. You need to stick it out (or atleast give it a minute or two, or how may you are willing to try and wait for)
We can and will test longer wait limits for the seed bots to kick in, but please spread the word!— David Sirland (@tiggr_) November 5, 2025
In some instances, particularly in beginner playlists like Initiation Breakthrough, bots are meant to remain to help new players acclimate to the game.
Ongoing Community Engagement
Bot-related issues have been a hot topic among Battlefield 6 enthusiasts, with developers frequently addressing concerns about bots in XP farms and open betas. Fans of Battlefield Portal and regular multiplayer playlists have frequently encountered bots, fueling ongoing discussions.
“Like I stated in this thread earlier today – bots are only there to seed servers so they start,” Sirland reassured, addressing a fan’s concerns about the bot system. “The alternative would be no server under those circumstances. We will of course check for issues here too, and when and if servers spawn in the wrong way or when they shouldn’t.”
The development team at EA and BF Studios is dedicated to listening to player feedback, prompting updates such as revised challenge requirements, adjustments to Conquest mode, and a return to previous aim assist settings. Season 1 of Battlefield 6, including the standalone REDSEC, is progressing well, promising new maps and weapons in the near future.
