October was an explosive month in the world of gaming, with Battlefield 6 leading the charge as a monumental success. This latest installment has not only become the best-selling game in the Battlefield series in the U.S. but also clinched the title of the best-selling game across the nation for the past month.
Sources reveal that Battlefield 6 has topped the 2025 sales charts on both Xbox and PC. On PlayStation, it holds the runner-up position, trailing only behind NBA 2K26. The report marks an incredible achievement: Battlefield 6 achieved the highest single-month full game dollar sales of any title in the last three years. This surpasses even the launch records of recent Call of Duty games, posing a potential challenge for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 upon the release of November’s sales data.
Rising Stars and New Entries
Trailing behind Battlefield 6, Pokemon Legends: Z-A secured its spot as the second best-selling game in October and stands as the top physical game seller for the year so far. Interestingly, this rank is solely based on physical copies due to Nintendo’s stance on withholding digital sales figures.
The month also saw impressive debuts with The Outer Worlds 2 landing at No.7, Little Nightmares III at No.8, and Ninja Gaiden 4 at No.11. Although not breaking into the top 20 overall, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake made a significant mark as No.6 on Nintendo’s platform-specific charts.
Consoles and Spending Trends
Hardware sales saw a notable boost, climbing 36% year-over-year to reach $351 million. The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 played a pivotal role in this surge, offsetting declines in sales for the original Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5. The Switch 2 has already sold approximately 328,000 units, outpacing its predecessor and surpassing the previous record set by the PlayStation 4.
Overall, gaming hardware, content, and accessories spending reached a staggering $4.9 billion for October, marking a 3% increase from the previous year, largely thanks to the stellar performance of Battlefield 6, the debut of the Nintendo Switch 2, and a thriving mobile market.
