Battlefield REDSEC Battle Royale Unveils New Armor Enhancements

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced exciting updates for Battlefield 6’s REDSEC battle royale mode. The upcoming changes focus on armour mechanics, aiming to enhance gameplay dynamics and balance weapon effectiveness across different combat scenarios.

Armour Adjustments and Weapon Balance

The primary update involves tweaking weapon damage modifiers over varied ranges. This change promises to make long-range engagements more consistent, while curbing the dominance of certain weapons at close quarters. EA is extending the damage drop-off ranges by 10 meters against armour for all weapons, ensuring a more balanced combat experience. This adjustment is designed to align the effectiveness of weapons in both multiplayer and REDSEC modes.

Automatic Weapons Nerfed

In response to player feedback, developers are reducing the close-range damage capability of automatic weapons. High-rate-of-fire guns, such as SMGs and carbines, will have their maximum damage at short ranges significantly nerfed. During testing, EA found that at very close distances, the armour wasn’t providing sufficient protection against these rapid-fire weapons, prompting the need for this recalibration.

Will This Impact Esports?

The implications of these adjustments will resonate through the competitive scene as well. The upcoming $1 million REDSEC esports circuit, including both the Open Series and Elite Series tournaments, will incorporate these changes. As a result, fans and participants can expect shifts in strategies and gameplay tactics. Community and creator-organised events, like the renowned CouRage Clash, may also feel the effects, shaping the future of competitive Battlefield experiences.
