Breeze Set to Shine as Sunset Leaves VALORANT Season 26 Act 1 Map Lineup

Breeze is set to make a triumphant return to the competitive scene in VALORANT with the release of patch 12.00. After a year and a half since its removal in the 8.11 update, players can once again experience the tropical charm of this map. As the gaming community prepares for the changes, excitement builds around the alterations in the map pool for the upcoming season.

Breeze Replaces Sunset

In a recent announcement, Riot Games revealed that Breeze will replace Sunset in the competitive map pool. Alongside the unveiling of Season 26 Act 1 Premier schedule, the replacement marks a significant shift as Sunset, since its debut in August 2023, has been removed from competitive play only once. The next map rotation is anticipated to occur around January 7th, featuring a lineup that includes Breeze, Corrode, Split, Abyss, Pearl, Bind, and Haven. Enthusiasts are eager to see how these changes will impact the competitive dynamics.

Sources have shared that VALORANT Gameplay Product Lead Coleman ‘Altombre’ Palm mentioned updates for the map are being investigated, although specifics remain under wraps. Meanwhile, players can enjoy Sunset in alternative modes like Swiftplay and Spike Rush. The integration of the new map pool into the 2026 VCT Kickoff, beginning January 15th, remains uncertain.

Community’s Reaction to The New Map Pool

The return of Breeze has sparked varied reactions within the VALORANT community. Notably, G2 Gozen’s IGL Michaela ‘mimi’ Lintrup celebrated the return, stating, “omg happy new year, took us long enough to get here.” Breeze has been a particularly successful map for G2 Gozen, demonstrating a win rate exceeding 80%. Conversely, Evil Geniuses player Bao ‘bao’ Nguyen voiced his dissatisfaction with the update, describing it as “the worst map pool of all time.”

VALORANT S26 Act 1 release date countdown
