The alarming trend of CPU failures is showing no signs of slowing down, as an internet cafe owner faces significant hardware issues. With numerous Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs malfunctioning, the concern is evident, especially now that the failures are occurring on ASUS motherboards as well.
Cafe Owner Struggles with Mounting CPU Failures
Reports suggest that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is struggling against its competitor, Intel’s high-end CPUs, due to instability concerns. Previously, most malfunctions were associated with ASRock motherboards, but recent incidents indicate that ASUS motherboards are also affected. The cafe owner, identified as Redditor u/RealisticLoad3327, procured 150 Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs for his business earlier this year, utilizing ASUS B650M-AYW WiFi motherboards. Despite their decent build, combined with Huntkey’s 850W 80+ Gold PSUs, the CPUs continue to fail.
Out of the initial purchase, 15 CPUs have now failed, resulting in a troubling failure rate of approximately 1.6 CPUs each month since their deployment in March. The owner reports that the CPUs tend to fail randomly every one to two weeks, leading to frustration and uncertainty. The persistent reports of Ryzen 9800X3D CPU failures are alarming, especially as they are now linked to multiple motherboard brands.

Mystery Behind CPU Failures Continues
The owner maintains that no overclocking or PBO was activated, and the systems were running on BIOS 3283 (98.81.0) from September, which was supposed to enhance stability. However, despite these precautions, CPU failures persist. There is speculation that the CPU might be drawing more voltage than necessary, although this has not been confirmed.
A year has passed since the issues first arose, yet the root cause of these Ryzen 9800X3D CPU deaths remains unidentified. AMD and its partners have yet to provide a clear explanation or solution, leaving users in a state of uncertainty and concern.
