The world of collegiate esports is gearing up for an exhilarating showdown as the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup (CECC) May Madness heads to Waco, Texas in 2026. This much-anticipated event promises to bring together the finest collegiate esports talent from across the United States for a celebration of competitive gaming. From May 1st to 3rd, players will compete in hopes of being crowned champions in this multi-title tournament.

EsportsU has revealed that the CECC May Madness will mark its sixth edition next year, featuring over 800 institutions and more than 2,000 students participating. Organized alongside the PlayVS College League, the event will also host its 2026 Spring Championship at the Waco Convention Center, a new venue for the tournament after three consecutive years in Arlington, Texas.

The momentum of collegiate esports has been evident throughout 2025, with notable events like Alienware’s inaugural Apex Legends event and ongoing partnerships fueling the competitive spirit. CECC May Madness, established in 2022, remains a cornerstone of collegiate esports events, drawing in thousands of in-person spectators and demonstrating a 27% uptick in viewership from the previous year. With support from 25 official partners, the tournament provides a pivotal platform for students to display their gaming prowess on a national stage.
