In an exciting development for gamers and tech enthusiasts, Chinese GPU manufacturer Colorful has unveiled its new RTX 50 Ultra Z Series. This innovative lineup introduces the GC-HPWR interface, allowing the GPUs to be powered through ASUS BTF motherboards. This move marks a fascinating collaboration between different technology brands, offering versatility and functionality to users.
Colorful’s Latest GPU Lineup
Colorful’s RTX 50 Ultra Z Series, featuring the RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards, represents a unique approach to powering GPUs. These graphics cards will incorporate the detachable GC-HPWR power connector, typically associated with ASUS BTF graphics cards and motherboards. Although Colorful doesn’t manufacture compatible motherboards, its new series will be fully compatible with ASUS BTF motherboards. Additionally, the GPUs will include a dedicated GPU connector for added compatibility.

Flexible Power Options
Reports suggest that the RTX 5060 series will be the first to feature the GC-HPWR connector, allowing power via this new interface or traditional 8-pin PCIe connectors. The RTX 5070 Ti Ultra Z OC, currently listed on JD, includes an additional 12V-2×6 connector, giving users flexibility in their power options. This could lead to improved load distribution and potentially better connector temperatures.

This strategic approach by Colorful may address the rare melting issues seen in the RTX 5070 series. The GC-HPWR interface can supply a powerful 600W from the PSU, requiring a 16-pin connection from the PCB’s back. By offering compatibility with both ASUS BTF and standard motherboards, Colorful provides a versatile solution akin to ASUS BTF 2.5 GPUs, which feature dual interfaces.
