Core Ultra X7 358H Boosts Performance by 9% in PassMark, Surpassing Core Ultra 7 255H by 4%

The Intel Core Ultra X7 358H has been making waves with its latest performance metrics, surpassing its predecessor, the Core Ultra 7 255H, in recent benchmarks. As more samples are tested, performance evaluations continue to evolve, showcasing some impressive results for Intel’s latest offering.

Intel Core Ultra X7 358H Sets New Benchmarks

Intel’s Panther Lake series has seen the Core Ultra X7 358H emerge with a strong showing on PassMark. Initially, with just two samples tested, the results were underwhelming. However, with an additional early engineering sample, the scores have improved, not only closing the gap with the Core Ultra 7 255H but even edging past it slightly. The X7 358H has now achieved a multi-core PassMark score of 32,003 points, surpassing the Core Ultra 7 255H.

Despite this, the performance improvement remains modest as the Ultra X7 358H trails the Core Ultra 7 255H by 1.4% in single-core tests while being 4% faster in multi-core benchmarks. The upcoming weeks might see further changes as more samples provide clearer insights. The turbo speed has been confirmed at 4.8 GHz, though the base clock speed remains undisclosed.

Generational Improvements and Future Prospects

Comparing generational advancements, the leap from Core Ultra 7 155H to Core Ultra 7 255H boasted nearly a 20% increase in multi-threaded performance. While the 358H shows less dramatic gains, it offers differences in core architecture, featuring two fewer P-cores but two additional LP-E cores. The Panther Lake models are strategically developed to optimize power efficiency compared to the Arrow Lake-H while maintaining comparable multi-threaded performance levels. Expectations are high for superior graphics performance, potentially outpacing the Xe2-based iGPU of the Arrow Lake-H, as indicated by early benchmarks.
