In a surprising move, several system integrators are announcing price changes for gaming systems due to an unexpected rise in RAM and SSD costs. The gaming community is now facing higher expenses to keep up with the latest technology.
CyberPowerPC Faces Dramatic Cost Increases
Since October, DRAM prices have surged dramatically, with reports indicating an increase of up to 500% for RAM. This represents a sixfold rise in the cost of DDR5 RAM modules, with some 64 GB kits reaching prices over $800—nearly quadruple their previous rates. CyberPowerPC, a well-known system integrator, has acknowledged these changes, stating that RAM prices have indeed soared by 500%.

Upcoming Price Adjustments in the Gaming Industry
NAND prices are also on the rise, causing SSD costs to climb significantly. This increase has led many system builders, including CyberPowerPC, to announce impending price adjustments. They have stated that starting December 7th, 2025, their systems will reflect these higher costs. Gamers will soon experience a price hike of $100-$200 on budget PC builds, with potentially greater increases for higher RAM capacities.
This financial alarm comes at a time when many expect hardware prices to drop due to upcoming sales. However, the surge in DRAM prices is attributed to the growing demand from the AI sector, suggesting a potential shift in focus for manufacturers towards more lucrative opportunities outside of gaming.
The duration of this pricing trend remains uncertain, but signs indicate this might only be the beginning of a challenging period for gamers.
