Dead by Daylight Developers Reveal Dream Killers for Future Chapters

With Five Nights at Freddy’s soon joining Dead by Daylight, the developers at Behaviour Interactive are already looking ahead to which horror legends they hope to bring into the game next. The studio, known for its ever-expanding roster of Killers and Survivors, has some ambitious names in mind that would thrill fans of the genre.

The Thing Remains a Top Priority

Jason Guzzo, a Killer Designer with a passion for horror, has played a key role in introducing infamous characters like Chucky, Dracula, and Springtrap to the game. However, Guzzo has made it clear that there is one franchise he is especially eager to see in Dead by Daylight: The Thing. Having spent over two years at Behaviour, Guzzo has been determined to find a way to incorporate the shape-shifting terror from John Carpenter’s classic film into the game. While he admitted that this dream is not currently in development and acknowledged the unique design challenges of adapting such a complex mimic for gameplay, Guzzo emphasized that bringing The Thing to Dead by Daylight remains a personal mission.

Creative Director Shares More Dream Killers

Dave Richard, the Creative Director, explained that conversations about potential dream Killers are a regular occurrence among the team. He noted that Pennywise is a villain who would be “amazing” to include, but he also expressed a broader desire to gather as many iconic monsters as possible. Richard mentioned that the team often jokes about unconventional choices, such as Cujo, the rabid dog from Stephen King’s novel and film adaptation, and Christine, the killer car from another King story. While these ideas might seem far-fetched, Richard believes there could be creative ways to make them work within Dead by Daylight’s universe.

Looking Ahead to the Game’s Ninth Anniversary

As Dead by Daylight approaches its ninth anniversary, the excitement around new content continues to build. The upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s Chapter, launching on June 17, will introduce Springtrap as a new Killer and add a pizzeria-themed map. With the developers’ ongoing enthusiasm for expanding the roster, players can look forward to more surprises and possibly the arrival of even more legendary horror icons in the future.
