Discover The God Slayer: An Open-World Steampunk Action RPG by Creators of the ‘My Time’ Series

Chinese developer Pathea Games, renowned for the ‘My Time’ series and the recently launched 3v3 sports game Superball, has unveiled an exciting new project. The God Slayer, an open world steampunk action RPG, promises to deliver a unique blend of elements that will captivate gamers. The game, set in a colorful Asian metropolis inspired by the Ming era, fuses Chinese cultural aesthetics with steampunk technology and a Qi-based elemental magic system.

An Epic Tale of Revenge and Strategy

In The God Slayer, players will explore the city of Zhou, constructed by powerful beings known as Celestials who harness Qi to maintain their immortality. The narrative unfolds when humans learn to manipulate Qi themselves, triggering a celestial backlash that leads to the destruction of kingdoms. The protagonist, Cheng, embarks on a journey to avenge his family’s death by slaying the Supreme Celestial. The game, projected to offer approximately 40 hours of gameplay, is divided into seven chapters, each concluding with a major boss battle.

Innovative Gameplay Mechanics

The God Slayer offers rich systemic gameplay, reminiscent of Pathea’s earlier titles. Players can tackle missions through various strategies, such as engaging enemies directly, bribing guards, or using elemental powers for tactical advantages. For instance, players might choose to level up their character before facing a challenging boss or employ creative diversions to weaken enemy defenses. The dynamic environment encourages players to experiment with different approaches, adding depth to the gameplay.

A Promising Adventure Awaits

The developers have promised a captivating story-driven campaign filled with engaging characters and narrative twists. Players will forge alliances, inspire the city’s inhabitants, and challenge the gods’ authority to restore justice. Combat is heavily influenced by traditional Chinese martial arts and elemental magic, allowing players to combine different elements to execute powerful attacks. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S and X, with a possible launch in 2027.
