Duollistes Can’t Stop You? Brace for Carpal Tunnel: Clair Obscur’s Expedition 33 Gamer Survives 8 Hours and 10,000 Parries

Setting records in video games often involves intense dedication and incredible skill, captivating the gaming community with awe-inspiring feats. Even in games known for their challenging nature, players continue to push boundaries, showcasing unmatched mastery and determination.

Epic Feat in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In the world of turn-based RPGs, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stands out by allowing players to achieve remarkable victories through precision and endurance. A player, known as Recordbreaks, demonstrated this by taking on the formidable Duolliste Boss, introduced in last month’s Thank You Update released for free.

On the game’s official subreddit Expedition 33, Recordbreaks shared a screenshot of their triumph, showcasing a battle time of 8:02:36 minutes and an astounding 10,545 parries over the boss’s two phases. This accomplishment is particularly impressive given the boss’s complex moveset designed to disrupt player timing.

Mastery of Skills and Strategy

Recordbreaks noted that while there was some “twitching near the end,” their skillful handling of parries was complemented by strategic use of game mechanics. Employing abilities such as Angel Eyes, Healing Counter, Healing Parry, and Defensive Mode with an enhanced Verso’s HP played a crucial role in their success. These elements highlight the versatility and depth of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 skill system.

The game’s innovative mechanics and ability to support such complex strategies are among the reasons it was honored at The Game Awards with the Game of the Year award, among many others.

Game Development Insights

Beyond the gameplay, the success of Sandfall Interactive‘s approach to refining content stands out. They suggest similar strategies for developers of upcoming titles, like Phantom Blade Zero from S-Game, expected to hit PC and PlayStation 5 this September.
