Dying Light: The Beast is a new open-world, first-person experience that follows the return of Dying Light’s protagonist, Kyle Crane, on a quest for revenge. Taking place mostly in a countryside setting, this game will put players through an absolutely terrifying experience as part of the survival journey, in addition to the exceptional parkour mechanics. Furthermore, it will present new challenges for the players to experience.
A New Setting and Refined Mechanics
Dying Light: The Beast takes players to a lovely village in the countryside, unlike its predecessor, which took place in a city. The game moves away from urban exploration towards a more authentic survival horror experience. Gamers will miss the ziplines and the paragliders of the city-based features, but exploring the new environment brings a refreshing twist to the fight over who can manage resources better and close-quarter fighting.
The Return of Kyle Crane
Kyle Crane is back from the lab where he was used as an experiment by The Baron and is out for revenge in Castor Woods. His imprisonment gave him freakish strength when he was released from his chains. Crane is somewhat resistant, but the local allies give him injections to increase his strength or abilities, and he accepts them anyway.
Engaging Gameplay
Although it feels a bit like a DLC addon, The Beast is a full-fledged dynamic game. The large terrain of Castor Woods will always keep the exploration interesting, although at times you’ll have to walk a bit. Early on, players face few side-quests, but more and varied quests and missions open up as they progress. The environment allows for a new type of parkour sensation but also presents the chance to solve puzzles.
Unleash the Beast
One feature to draw attention to in The Beast is the “Beast Mode”, which allows players to become an overpowering being temporarily. This feature allows for explosive executions and plenty of showmanship to keep the combat action lively. Some powers appear useless, like the super-jump and Hook Thrust, but they enhance the thrilling rampage experience of Beast Mode.
Satisfying Combat Techniques
The game’s combat against both zombies and human opponents is meaty, though there are some technical issues. The animations in the game definitely add to the excitement of the battle. Beast Mode has animations that destroy the game destructively and stunningly. When players encounter enemy soldiers, they love to trade in their parkour moves for something more classic, like a shotgun or sniper rifle.
Challenging Boss Fights
Once again, the emergence of Dead Light liveries new bosses presented by the Baron, who will test players for gameplay and combat. Not every boss fight is challenging or unique. However, defeating these enemies allows players to gain new powers. This is an enjoyable part of The Beast’s design.
A Lasting Experience
Dying Light: The Beast is a single-player game for around 35 hours. Apart from the main story, you can also do many other side activities. The Beast doesn’t quite match its predecessor, Stay Human, in all ways, but it does deliver a grounded but brutal survival horror adventure all the same.
Final Verdict
Dying Light: The Beast is an original survival horror game that turns the volume up on the darkness while retaining some of the first-person parkour charm of the first game. While it stumbles a little compared to other entries in the series, the game is still great fun for those wanting a taste of Techland’s ever-evolving world of horror-themed action.
