In an exciting development for fans, Final Fantasy VII Remake series director Naoki Hamaguchi has addressed concerns about pacing in the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. Although he previously assured players that the third installment would be more concise, he emphasized that this wouldn’t involve altering the pacing of Rebirth.
Pacing Concerns and Clarifications
Recent feedback has highlighted some players’ belief that sections of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth felt overly long. Addressing these concerns, Hamaguchi explained, “Regarding time management in certain sections, especially in FF7 Rebirth, I honestly don’t believe that they were longer than necessary. I feel like nowadays, players just have too much to do and too much to play; so they often feel the urge that something has to be concluded quickly.”
In an interview with a recent publication, Hamaguchi elaborated, saying that the additional story content in Rebirth might give an impression of a stretched narrative. However, he insists the pacing is intentional and aligns with his vision for the series. “The pacing, the content, and the balance in Rebirth is exactly as I wanted it,” he stated, reaffirming his belief in the creative choices made for the game.
Ensuring the Right Speed
Hamaguchi took the opportunity to clarify that his intention for Part 3 is not to cut content but to maintain a narrative speed that feels engaging and appropriate. He remarked, “It’s about making sure the pacing feels right, it’s not about cutting out content, it’s making sure that it feels right, the speed that the story progresses at feels right, and it is fairly quick and feels like you can get through it at a reasonable pace.”
Future Prospects and Development
The anticipation for the next chapter in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series continues to build. With development reportedly beginning in June 2022 and Square Enix aiming for a 2027 release, the excitement is palpable. Additionally, the completion of the story earlier this year has fueled fans’ eagerness for its release.
In the meantime, fans are curious about several aspects, such as the potential inclusion of turn-based combat, which has yet to be decided according to Hamaguchi. The success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with its traditional turn-based combat and impressive sales, leaves the door open for various possibilities in the upcoming game. As we await further details, players can delve into past series favorites and speculate on what the future holds for this beloved franchise.
