CD Projekt Red has shared an update about Cyberpunk 2077’s highly anticipated Update 2.6, originally slated for release on June 26, 2025. The studio announced that additional time is needed to polish the update to meet their high standards, pushing the release date to an unspecified future point. Although the team did not share a new launch date, they appear to be gearing up to deliver an experience similar to the impressive Update 2.5, which dropped late in 2021.
Anticipated Features in Update 2.6
Update 2.6 will be just as great as Update 2.5 from the developers’ hints. Moreover, update 2.5 had tons of new stuff. The update added a new vehicle customization system that allows players to change their car colours more easily via an interface. It has upgraded the photo mode with a new option for taking drone camera pictures and expanded character creation tools.
While Update 2.5 didn’t include features like New Game Plus or PlayStation 5 Pro support, its additions were a hit among players, setting a high bar for what’s to come. This Update 2.6 will also deliver major changes, though we are not sure of the details yet.
Developer Commitment to Quality
In a recent post, CD Projekt Red expressed that they need more time for Update 2.6 to ensure everything is up to snuff. Marcin Momot, the global community director of the game, echoed the same sentiment. He apologized for the delay. Moreover, he thanked the fans for their patience. The studio will keep the community updated along the way and share more details of the progress soon. The effort to polish things further shows that the makers want Night City to become a better game.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Continued Evolution
Since its launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has been incorporated with new updates (2.5) which prove its full weight. The recent Switch 2 port definitely raised some eyebrows; the game runs surprisingly well on the new hardware. Gamers who explore the world of Night City on the Switch 2 will be offered mouse controls for a faster response. If you haven’t yet picked up the game and wandered its neon-lit streets, this port offers a tantalizing way to do so.
What Future Holds for Cyberpunk 2
CD Projekt Red has laid the groundwork for Cyberpunk 2 after Update 2.6. Cyberpunk 2, the follow-up to the 2077 saga, has entered pre-production, the studio has announced. The news follows rumours that the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion Phantom Liberty sold a whopping 10 million copies, so maybe the game isn’t so dead after all. Anticipation is Brewing for What’s Next in the Dystopian Universe as the Team Continues to Refine the Original Title.
Stay Tuned for More Updates
