Far Cry TV Adaptation Announced by Rob Mac and Alien Earth’s Noah Hawley

Exciting news for Far Cry fans as the beloved game franchise is set to explode onto television screens with a new series being developed for FX and Hulu. The project is being spearheaded by Noah Hawley of Alien Earth fame, with Rob Mac from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia both starring and producing.

Hawley expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme.”

He continued, “To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”

An Anthology of Action and Adventure

The show plans to embrace the anthology format, with each season exploring a new setting and narrative. While details about the release date or specific content remain scarce, the games’ legacy offers a vast array of possibilities, from the wilds of Montana to the peaks of the Himalayas, and themes of cults, dictators, and pirates. Rob Mac will take on the starring role, bringing the thrilling chaos of the games to life.

Mac, who previously collaborated with Ubisoft on Apple’s Mythic Quest, expressed his excitement: “Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized.”

A Collaboration with Ubisoft

Mac praised Ubisoft’s involvement, saying, “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
