In a recent Nintendo Creator’s Voice video, Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
A New Way to Experience Midgar
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the enhanced version of the 2020 PS4 release, featuring upgraded visuals, lighting, and the Intermission DLC starring Yuffie. Originally available on PS5 and PC, the game will now make its way to Nintendo’s next-gen handheld.
Hamaguchi explained that the Switch 2’s improved hardware allows the team to bring Midgar to life with full specifications. He emphasized that playing the game in handheld mode means fans can enjoy it anywhere, even during their daily commute.
Enhanced Social Features on Switch 2
The Switch 2 version will support GameChat, letting players communicate with friends and share their gameplay in real time. Hamaguchi expressed excitement over the game’s portability, noting how it will make sharing progress with others much easier.
He also hinted at a stronger collaboration between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand, suggesting that Rebirth and the trilogy’s final installment could follow.
A Return to Nintendo
While Final Fantasy VII originally moved to PlayStation in 1997, the remake marks its long-awaited return to Nintendo hardware. Fans can now look forward to experiencing the full trilogy on the Switch 2 in the near future.
