Fortnite Introduces Sidekicks: Customize Your Pet’s Look Permanently

Fortnite is shaking things up with its latest introduction: Sidekicks. These delightful companions have been the talk of the Fortnite community, but not everyone is thrilled about the details.

Sidekicks, as introduced by Epic Games, are charming new companions that join you in various Fortnite modes, including Battle Royale, Save the World, and developer-made experiences. They don’t affect gameplay but offer a fun element by reacting to the world around them. Players can personalize their Sidekicks, setting permanent traits while allowing for changes in names and accessories any time. Thankfully, these loyal buddies remain unharmed during battles.

Meet the First of the Adorable Sidekicks

The debut Sidekick is Peels, a banana-inspired pup unlocked with the November 1 Battle Pass. Following soon after, on November 7, are Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor, with cat-themed companions arriving shortly thereafter. Players with the Bonesy Back Bling will also receive Bonesy on the same day.

While the concept is undeniably charming, the price of these companions has sparked debate. Reports suggest prices vary, with Lil’ Raptor and Spike priced at 1,200 V-Bucks, and Flopsticks and Cuddle Team Jr. costing 1,500 V-Bucks. Some fans are voicing concerns that these costs are higher than many original skins, causing frustration over the pricing strategy.

Customization Costs and Criticism

The controversy doesn’t stop at cost. Epic Games has confirmed that Sidekick appearances can be customized just once initially, a decision that is permanent. If players wish to change their pet’s colors or appearance afterward, they must purchase the Sidekick again.

Many in the Fortnite community are expressing dissatisfaction, noting that this policy feels overly restrictive and financially motivated. Complaints highlight the incongruity of expensive customization compared to previous in-game purchases, creating a stir among fans.

Community feedback suggests a reconsideration of this strategy, advocating for either reduced pricing or more flexible customization options to enhance player satisfaction.

Wait, so they cost more than skins do AND you have to buy them AGAIN if you want to change their color after buying? What kind of insane pricing is this???

Meanwhile, Fortnite fans can look forward to the Simpsons-themed mini-season launching on November 1, 2025. Characters like Homer and Marge are set to join Fortnite, with mischievous aliens Kang and Kodos causing chaos on the map post-Fortnitemares 2025.
