Fortnite’s New Star Wars Season Introduces Darth Jar Jar and More

Epic Games, in collaboration with Lucasfilm, has officially revealed the next Star Wars-themed season of Fortnite, set to launch on May 2, 2025. One of the most unexpected additions to this season is Darth Jar Jar, a character that originated from a widely circulated fan theory on Reddit in 2015. The upcoming season, titled “Galactic Battle Season,” is shaping up to be one of the most unique collaborations in the game’s history.

From Meme to Mainstream: Darth Jar Jar Enters the Battlefield

Darth Jar Jar stems from a theory that portrays the clumsy Gungan, Jar Jar Binks, as a hidden Sith Lord who orchestrated events in the prequel trilogy. Since the theory first emerged, it has inspired a surge of fan content, including artwork, videos, and even a Lego Minifigure. Now, the character makes a dramatic appearance in Fortnite, equipped with Force Lightning powers, marking his first appearance in an official game—ironically, ahead of a standard Jar Jar Binks skin.

Major Reveals at Star Wars Celebration 2025

During Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, a trailer was unveiled by Epic Games, showcasing some of the character skins and in-game content coming to Fortnite. The trailer featured several familiar faces including The Emperor (Sheev Palpatine), Mace Windu, a Mandalorian warrior, and a costumed Chewbacca. Vehicles such as X-Wings and TIE Fighters were also highlighted, adding to the immersive galactic theme.

Star Wars-Themed Battle Pass and Cosmetics

A detailed blog post released by Lucasfilm outlined the contents of the upcoming battle pass. Players will be able to unlock new character skins including The Emperor and others teased in the trailer. Additional cosmetics themed around Star Wars will be available in the in-game store, such as the Mace Windu outfit.

The game’s map will undergo a transformation to reflect various iconic locations from the Star Wars universe, providing a fresh and engaging backdrop for this crossover season.

Expanding the Roster: More Characters Incoming

Epic Games has hinted at numerous surprises that span every era of Star Wars. While not all content has been revealed, artwork shared post-event confirms that characters like Captain Phasma and Poe Dameron from the sequel trilogy will also be part of the seasonal content.

Weekly Chapters Rolling Out Through Mid-June

The season will be split into five weekly chapters, each bringing new content and challenges. Here is the rollout schedule:

  • Imperial Takeover – May 2, 2025
  • The Pull of the Force – May 8, 2025
  • Mandalorian Rising – May 22, 2025
