FromSoftware Unveils The Duskbloods, a Vampire-Themed Game for Nintendo Switch 2

During the final moments of the latest Nintendo Direct 2 presentation, FromSoftware delivered a jaw-dropping surprise—a new exclusive title for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game introduces a vampire-centric narrative, though it bears no connection to Bloodborne 2. Instead, this mysterious and atmospheric title is called The Duskbloods and is set to launch in 2026.

A Glimpse Into a Dark, Gothic World

The reveal trailer opens in somber fashion: a man lies limp in a chair, possibly asleep or lifeless. From below, a woman reaches out to his hand, placing her own gently against his. A haunting voice is heard, stating that she gives him her blood and life, urging the turning of a wheel to carry him into a night lit by moonlight—into what she describes as humanity’s very dusk. As her hand retreats, a peculiar mark is seen etched onto the back of his.

What follows is a visually rich montage of bleak and gothic settings—ancient chapels, creaking railways, colossal architecture, graveyards, fluttering bats, and imposing statues. Familiar to fans of FromSoftware, the world is teeming with strange and menacing foes. One notable scene features a character soaring through the air with a jetpack, set against the glow of an eerie, oversized moon. An arsenal of elaborate swords, firearms, and spells is shown, hinting at the game’s varied combat mechanics.

The Vampire Protagonist and Multiplayer Elements

The central character, the same man from the beginning of the trailer, seems to be a vampire. This is made evident when he viciously sinks his teeth into the neck of a foe in one intense moment. There are also hints of cooperative gameplay, as another character appears to be summoned to the protagonist’s side, ready to battle alongside him.

FromSoftware later confirmed via social media that The Duskbloods is a multiplayer action experience focused on PvPvE—player versus player versus environment. This indicates a complex structure where players not only face off against one another but also contend with the game’s hostile world.

Not Bloodborne 2, But a Spiritual Successor

While this title clearly shares DNA with Bloodborne, it does not carry the same name. This is likely due to ownership rights—Bloodborne is a Sony property, and there’s been no movement from Sony regarding a follow-up, despite a persistent outcry from fans. The Duskbloods appears to be FromSoftware’s way of responding to that desire, crafted as a spiritual successor tailored for a new audience.

Nintendo Switch 2 users, in particular, have much to celebrate. Not only are they receiving a major new exclusive from one of the most acclaimed studios in gaming, but FromSoftware is also showing strong support for the platform by bringing Elden Ring to the console as well.
