Gla1ve Bids Farewell to Counter-Strike Stage

The world of Counter-Strike esports is witnessing the end of an era with the retirement of one of its most iconic figures, Lukas ‘Gla1ve’ Rossander. Known for his strategic brilliance and leadership, Gla1ve has decided to hang up his competitive boots and step into a new role within the esports community. His announcement marks a significant moment in the history of Counter-Strike.

Four-time Counter-Strike Major winner Lukas ‘Gla1ve’ Rossander has announced his retirement from Counter-Strike esports. After an illustrious career filled with numerous victories, Gla1ve plans to transition into a coaching role, a move that promises to bring his expertise and insight to the next generation of players.

End of a Legendary Career

The former captain of Astralis shared his retirement news on November 24th, 2025, following a period away from active play after being benched by ENCE. This decision concluded his impressive 18-month run with the team. Gla1ve’s legacy is firmly tied to his time at Astralis, where he contributed to one of the most dominant periods in Counter-Strike history, securing four Majors and 16 tournament wins between 2018 and 2019.

After departing Astralis in July 2023, Gla1ve led ENCE to the IEM Katowice 2024 playoffs and helped them qualify for the Copenhagen Major. His final appearance as a player was at the Tipsport Conquest of Prague 2025, where his team finished as runners-up to Fnatic.

Reflecting on his career, Gla1ve expressed gratitude for the memories and victories that shaped his journey: “What a ride it has been. So many memories, so many victories, and lessons I’ll carry with me forever,” he shared on social media. He fondly recalled the peak moments, including the Majors and the Intel Grand Slam, highlighting the significance of the Astralis era. “To be part of creating something that special doesn’t happen often. A huge thank you to my incredible teammates and coaches from back then – you made it some of the best years of my life.”

Gla1ve now joins the ranks of former teammates who have stepped away from competition, following Andreas ‘Xyp9x’ Højsleth who retired in 2023, and Peter ‘Dupreeh’ Rasmussen who announced his retirement in 2025.

Gla1ve’s Coaching Transition

Embracing a new chapter, Gla1ve is set to embark on a coaching career, mirroring the path taken by his former teammate Xyp9x, who became the assistant coach of MOUZ in 2024. With his vast experience in leadership and tactical gameplay, Gla1ve has the potential to mold a new team and leave an indelible mark in the coaching realm of Counter-Strike esports.
