Supergiant Games has officially announced that Hades 2, following an extended period in Early Access on Steam, will receive its full 1.0 release on PC in 2025. As for the console debut, the studio revealed that the game will initially be available only on Nintendo’s platforms—both the current Switch and the upcoming Switch 2—before launching on other consoles at a later date.
Nintendo Switch Takes the Lead Once Again
During last week’s Switch 2 Direct, Hades 2 was shown running at a smooth 60 frames per second, confirming its initial release on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. A page on Nintendo’s official site confirmed the news, stating that the game would arrive first on these platforms.

This information was further reinforced by a recently published “Creator’s Voice” microdocumentary about Supergiant Games, uploaded to Nintendo’s official YouTube channel. In it, the developers emphasized that the title would “launch first for consoles on Nintendo Switch 2,” eliminating any remaining uncertainty around the exclusivity period.
Legacy of Switch Continues With the Sequel
The team behind the game also reflected on the success of the original Hades on the first Nintendo Switch, noting how the platform contributed significantly to its popularity. They added that the improved specs of the Switch 2 will allow for a faster-paced, more fluid combat experience.
Unlike the first installment, which occasionally experienced frame rate dips despite aiming for 60fps, the sequel is expected to maintain a consistent performance. The upgraded hardware is also said to drastically reduce loading times, giving players a smoother experience overall.
