The indie sequel was included in the showcase, albeit for a brief period alongside the announcement of the new ROG Ally X handheld.
When the showcase took place, Xbox president Sarah Bond mentioned that Silksong will be available at launch and included in Game Pass when the Ally releases later this year. Many fans wrongly interpreted the above statement to mean the game is “timed” for the launch window of the new handheld, the Holiday 2025 season. Team Cherry clarified that this is not the case.
Developer Confirms Pre-Holiday Launch Window
Leth, who is Team Cherry’s marketing manager and one of the creators of Hollow Knight, used the game’s official Discord to ease fans’ worries. Griffin stated that Silksong isn’t tied to any console releases. He added that it’ll be out before Christmas.
Griffin said it would come before Holiday, clarifying after the question was asked that by Holiday he meant Christmas. The development team is operating independently of any console release schedule, so fans won’t need to hold their breath for the ROG Ally X to arrive in order to play the game.
September Museum Exhibition Sparks Release Speculation

It was reported that the game would become playable at Australia’s national museum of screen culture in Melbourne on September 18, leading to speculation about a potential early autumn release window.
