A dragon egg is one of the rarest items in Minecraft, and bringing it to life is arguably one of the hardest tasks that players can accomplish. It takes more than a few hours of game play for players to defeat the Ender Dragon. This is believed to be the most dangerous foe on any server. If you think you are up for the task, then here’s a walkthrough on how to hatch a dragon egg in Minecraft.
Locating a Dragon Egg
To hatch a dragon egg, you have to get your hands on one first. Of all things, dragon eggs are probably the hardest to find, aside from maybe the Enderman. To fight the ender dragon, you’ll need to find and activate an End Portal while wearing strong gear.
Once players defeat the Ender Dragon they may claim the dragon egg located in The End. Be careful, or the egg will break. Players know there are various ways to safely collect the egg. Most players would build a platform around it and use piston and lever to transport it to their inventory.
Getting Ready to Hatch Your Dragon Egg
If you are planning to hatch the dragon egg in The End, you won’t need to pick it up because it will stay where it is. It does not really take part in reviving the Ender Dragon.
To “hatch” the dragon egg and spawn a new Ender Dragon, players will need to acquire or craft four end crystals and bring them to The End. Place a crystal on each side of the portal around the dragon egg pedestal. It will ignite the flames at the towers in The End and summons the Elder Dragon. This process does not directly involve the dragon egg, which you can keep as a trophy of your efforts.
If you’re trying to hatch the dragon egg outside of The End, it isn’t possible in vanilla. You need to install a mod to obtain this feature in Minecraft. Thus, only modded versions of the game allow players to hatch dragon eggs.
