Intel Core Ultra X7 358H Trails Behind Ultra 7 265H in PassMark Performance

The latest insights into Intel’s upcoming Panther Lake CPUs reveal intriguing performance metrics for the Core Ultra X7 358H. Recently benchmarked with greater precision, this mid-range mobile CPU shows how it stacks up against current competitors.

Performance of Core Ultra X7 358H on PassMark

New reports bring to light the benchmark performance of the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H, tested on PassMark, a reliable platform for CPU evaluations. The CPU scored 4,282 in single-threaded and 29,426 in multi-threaded tests, showing a noticeable lag behind the latest Intel Arrow Lake-H chips. The Core Ultra X7 358H, featuring a 16-core configuration and 18 MB of L3 cache, is 4% slower in multi-threaded performance compared to the Core Ultra 7 255H and approximately 15% behind the Core Ultra 7 265H.

Comparing Integrated GPU Performance

The iGPU of the Core Ultra X7 358H also underwent scrutiny, utilizing the Intel Arc B390 based on the Xe3 architecture. It achieved 9,339 points on PassMark. Though it compares to the desktop-grade GTX 1650 Super, it lags 23% behind the RTX 3050 laptop GPU. Such figures suggest a potential challenge for Panther Lake, especially as it prepares for a mobile-only debut in January 2026.

As this data emanates from early engineering samples, caution is advised in drawing conclusions. However, these preliminary results suggest that Intel’s Panther Lake may struggle against its predecessors unless improvements are made before its official launch. If Panther Lake fails to impress, Intel will need to rely heavily on its upcoming Nova Lake lineup, anticipated in late 2026, to regain its competitive edge.
