Intel is currently grappling with a significant breach, as a former employee has allegedly absconded with “top secret” data. This incident comes on the heels of a series of layoffs that have left some personnel disgruntled, and the theft highlights ongoing challenges for the tech giant.
Intel’s Former Employee Accused of Stealing a Massive 18,000 Files From Internal Database
Recent reports suggest that an employee, Jinfeng Luo, who had been with Intel since 2014, allegedly took sensitive data after being notified of his layoff. Luo’s employment ended on July 31st, and during his final days with the company, he reportedly extracted around 18,000 files from Intel’s internal database. These files reportedly contained “top secret” information.
On July 23, Intel claims, Luo tried to download a file from his work laptop to an external hard drive. Internal company controls prevented that. But five days later, Intel says that Luo connected another storage device and downloaded 18,000 files.

Upon discovering the unauthorized data transfer, Intel launched an investigation that identified Luo as the culprit. The company has pursued legal action and is seeking $250,000 in damages, as well as a court order to prevent the dissemination of the stolen data. This case underscores the heightened tension following Intel’s recent workforce reductions, which have reportedly left many employees dissatisfied.

The lawsuit remains unresolved, and Intel has yet to receive a response from Luo, leaving the future of this situation uncertain. Given the severity of the claims, with Intel labeling the content as “Top Secret,” this incident poses a significant threat to the company’s security.
