A Japanese content creator has already beaten The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch 2, despite the console not launching until June 5. This impressive feat was accomplished during a preview event in Tokyo, where the player managed to complete the game in approximately seven minutes.
The content creator, known as Ikaboze, uploaded video evidence of their achievement to YouTube. According to reports, the demo at the preview event was limited to just 10 minutes and offered players multiple save files to choose from. Ikaboze, who has background experience in speedrunning, utilized these skills effectively to reach the game’s credits before the timer expired. According to the content creator, staff at the event confirmed this was the first time anyone had successfully completed the demo.
Switch 2 Zelda Upgrades Coming Soon
Nintendo recently announced enhanced Switch 2 Editions for both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. These improved versions will feature several technical enhancements including better frame rates, higher resolutions, and HDR support. Players will also gain access to new Zelda Notes functionality through the Switch app.
For those who already own the original Switch versions, Nintendo is offering an upgrade path for $10. Players who don’t own the games can purchase the complete Switch 2 Edition for $70, though it’s worth noting this doesn’t include the DLC for Breath of the Wild. Similar enhancement treatments are planned for other Nintendo titles including Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
Nintendo’s Approach to Switch 2 Game Compatibility
The company has outlined several approaches for bringing Switch games to their new console. Some titles, like Super Mario Odyssey and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, will receive free Switch 2 updates. Additionally, many original Switch games are expected to see automatic performance improvements when played on the Switch 2, even without specific patches.
