The 2026 Call of Duty League (CDL) season has kicked off with a bang as two major teams have already made their mark. Los Angeles Thieves and OpTic Texas are the standout performers so far, each securing victories in their first two Major 1 qualifying matches. Los Angeles Thieves Top the Table
Following strategic signings of Tyler ‘aBeZy’ Pharris and Kenny ‘Kenny’ Williams, Los Angeles Thieves launched into the season with an impressive 3-0 victory over FaZe Vegas. Although they faced a setback against the Riyadh Falcons with a narrow map loss on Scar Hardpoint, they rebounded strongly. The Thieves secured a 6-0 sweep on Den Search and Destroy and dominated Den Overload 5-1. Their resilience paid off with a 3-1 win, earning them another 10 CDL Points.
Defending Champions Start Strong
OpTic Texas, the reigning Call of Duty League champions, have continued their unbeaten run from last season. Entering the 2026 CDL with an unchanged roster, they displayed their prowess by sweeping the Riyadh Falcons 3-0. This victory followed their triumphant performance at the Monster Energy Launch Invitational in November. Despite an initial defeat by G2 Minnesota on Scar Hardpoint, OpTic Texas showed their mettle, clinching victories across Raid Search and Destroy and Den Overload. They avenged their earlier loss with a decisive win on Exposure, sealing a 3-1 victory.
Struggles For Riyadh Falcons?
The Riyadh Falcons have faced a challenging start, succumbing to defeats by both OpTic Texas and Los Angeles Thieves, two formidable opponents in the CDL. However, upcoming matches against the Carolina Royal Ravens and Boston Breach present opportunities for the Falcons to turn their fortunes around. As the second week of Major 1 qualifiers kicks off on December 12th, all 12 franchises will battle for a coveted spot in the top eight.
