Riot Games has confirmed that the next inductee into the League of Legends Hall of Legends will be announced in May 2025. This marks the second installment of the annual recognition program, following the inaugural induction of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in 2024.
The announcement came during the developer update for Season 2, where Riot shared plans to celebrate another standout professional who has significantly influenced the competitive scene. According to League Studio Head Andrei van Roon, the upcoming inductee is someone who has left a lasting impact on the game and inspired a new wave of talent. The studio is preparing to honor the player with a tribute worthy of their achievements.
A Tradition of Honoring Legendary Talent
The Hall of Legends was launched as a collaborative initiative between Riot Games and Mercedes-Benz. It serves as a formal recognition of players who have shaped the legacy of League of Legends esports through their exceptional skill, leadership, and influence. Faker’s induction in 2024 set a high bar, with a dedicated event pass chronicling his storied career and a series of exclusive in-game cosmetics—including a premium Ahri skin—released in his honor.
In addition, Faker was presented with a custom Mercedes-AMG SL 63, and part of the proceeds from the event’s cosmetic sales were shared with him as a token of appreciation for his contributions to the game’s legacy.
What Fans Can Expect in 2025
Riot has yet to disclose the full details of the 2025 celebrations, but similar commemorative content is expected to accompany this year’s Hall of Legends reveal. Like the previous year, the selection process will involve input from a panel consisting of esports community members and representatives from regional leagues. Candidates are evaluated based on multiple factors, including international and domestic championships, long-term impact on the scene, and their role in shaping the professional meta.
While speculation around the next inductee continues to build, fans can anticipate a fresh set of themed cosmetics, a story-driven event, and potentially another memorable gift to mark the moment.
Additional Season 2 Highlights
In tandem with the Hall of Legends announcement, Riot also unveiled new content for League of Legends Season 2. Among the upcoming features is Brawl, a brand-new game mode set to debut during the season. Additionally, a new champion named Yunara is expected to be introduced in Act 2, bringing fresh mechanics and lore to the evolving roster.
The Hall of Legends initiative is shaping up to be a cornerstone in Riot’s approach to celebrating esports excellence. With May fast approaching, anticipation is mounting over which legendary figure will become the second pro to join this prestigious hall of fame.
