Leaked Images of Canceled God of War Multiplayer Game Hint at Greek Return and Notorious Villain Comeback

The gaming world is buzzing with revelations about a shelved Sony project—a live-service multiplayer version of the iconic God of War series. Although whispers of its existence have circulated, details and images have now surfaced, offering a glimpse into what could have been a thrilling addition to the franchise.

Unveiling the Canceled God of War Multiplayer

Earlier this year, reports suggested that Sony pulled the plug on two unannounced live-service games in development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. Industry insiders believe that Bluepoint’s project was a multiplayer God of War game.

Recently, several screenshots allegedly from this canceled venture have been shared by sources, indicating a return to the series’ Greek roots. These images display a variety of picturesque settings, from caverns to ancient temples, promising a visually stunning experience.

A Glimpse into Hades’ Domain

Two particular screenshots, claimed to be from Hades’ Armory, reveal the same location in two contrasting states: one appearing normal and the other tainted by a mysterious curse with ominous rust-like stains. This setting harkens back to the character of Hades, who first appeared in the 2005 God of War and played a major role in God of War III. While it remains unclear how Bluepoint intended to resurrect him, these images suggest a blend of Greek and Norse influences in the game’s design.

Sony has not yet announced a new God of War game, but with the success of the 2018 and 2022 releases, the continuation of the franchise seems certain. The only question is what new adventures and settings will Kratos explore next?

Future Aspirations and the God of War TV Series

At a recent MCM London Comic Con, Kratos actor Christopher Judge expressed a wish for the series to explore the Egyptian pantheon. “Because I became best known as Teal’c from Stargate, to go to Egypt would be a completion of my circle,” he hinted. However, he remains confident that regardless of the direction, any new installment will be exceptional.

Meanwhile, fans of the franchise can look forward to the upcoming God of War TV series. Renowned producer Ronald D. Moore, known for his work on Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: The Next Generation, is set to bring the epic saga to life on Amazon.
