Legendary Leviathan Ride in Helldivers 2 Wows the Community

The latest update for Helldivers 2 has plunged Super Earth into a dire situation. The Illuminate have launched a devastating offensive, sweeping through humanity’s outer defenses and striking directly at the so-called Heart of Democracy. Now, massive Leviathans roam the skies while hostile Illuminate foot soldiers overrun cities, putting pressure on Helldivers like never before.

In this crisis, the call goes out for a new kind of leader—one who can inspire unity and hope. Some have drawn parallels to Dune’s mythical Lisan al-Gaib, and remarkably, one player might have lived up to that title in the most dramatic fashion.

Surfing the Sky Beasts

On the Helldivers subreddit, a user going by the name Beautiful-Injury7738 uploaded a jaw-dropping clip titled Leviathan Surfing. In it, they can be seen standing atop a skyscraper with the flag of democracy proudly raised. As a colossal Leviathan floats by, the player activates a jetpack, flies toward the creature, and successfully lands on its back.

The feat isn’t exactly a game feature, but rather a clever exploitation of the game’s physics. Still, thanks to Helldivers 2’s physics-driven design and lack of safety protocols, the stunt is entirely doable. The player admitted that setting it all up took quite a bit of time, though the exact method isn’t shown in the video.

From what can be seen, they appear to have used one of the new skyscrapers added in the city map update—structures just tall enough to make this kind of aerial maneuver possible. Once aboard the Leviathan, they managed to stay balanced for an impressive two minutes, despite the creature’s slow but constant movements that could easily send a rider tumbling.

A Tribute to Dune, With a Dark Twist

Reddit users quickly spotted the resemblance to Dune: Part Two and its iconic sandworm sequence, jokingly referring to Beautiful-Injury as the game’s version of the prophetic Lisan al-Gaib. The tribute, however, took a grimly hilarious turn.

As the Leviathan drifted out of the playable area, the game’s anti-desertion systems kicked in. Artillery designed to prevent players from straying too far off-map targeted Beautiful-Injury, eliminating them in a blaze of friendly fire. A dramatic end, yet strangely appropriate in the unpredictable and brutal universe of Helldivers.

Community Reactions and Ongoing Warfare

While the community continues to battle the Illuminate threat, stories like this showcase the creativity and passion of its players. One contributor recounted joining the fray and inadvertently causing widespread destruction during their chaotic skirmishes. Meanwhile, many players have also taken a liking to the newly introduced SEAF NPC allies—though not always for strategic reasons.

The war for Super Earth rages on, but thanks to players like Beautiful-Injury7738, it’s clear that the spirit of rebellion is alive and well, even in the face of overwhelming odds and the occasional artillery strike from home.
