Lenovo is stepping up its game in the handheld console market with the introduction of a new Legion Go model. This version comes equipped with SteamOS, offering users a seamless console-like experience right from the start. Gamers familiar with Steam on PC will find this integration particularly enjoyable, promising a smooth transition to a handheld format.
SteamOS Integration: A Game-Changer for the Lenovo Legion Go
The Lenovo Legion Go handheld, initially launched in September 2025, was powered by the mighty AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme SoC. Though it originally operated on Windows OS, this new model is set to feature native SteamOS support. This enhancement brings the vast Steam Library directly to users’ fingertips, along with features like Family Sharing, home network file transfers, and Steam Remote Play.
Technical enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the hardware specifications remain unchanged for the SteamOS variant. The device continues to offer an 8-core Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory, and a maximum of 2 TB Gen4 SSD storage. The portable powerhouse is fueled by a 74WHr battery, providing ample gaming time with a 65W USB Type-C power input. Gamers will also enjoy the stunning visuals on an 8.8″ WUXGA OLED display, boasting 500 nits of brightness and a refresh rate of 144Hz.
The Legion Go with SteamOS is anticipated to be priced at $1,199 USD and is expected to be available from June 2026.
