Lionsgate Hints at High-Caliber John Wick and Saw Games

The absence of a triple-A action game centered on the iconic character John Wick, portrayed by Keanu Reeves, remains a puzzle even after over a decade since the first film’s release. While the John Wick universe has expanded with sequels and a range of spin-offs, including the recent Ballerina movie and upcoming projects, the gaming scene has only seen the indie strategy game John Wick Hex. Developed by Mike Bithell, Hex offered a unique blend of X-COM and Superhot styles but lacked the blockbuster feel of the films. Unfortunately, it was delisted earlier this year and is no longer available.

Exploring New Gaming Horizons

In November 2022, Lionsgate revealed that it was considering various pitches for a triple-A John Wick game. During a recent investor call, Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the Motion Picture Group, provided insights into their gaming plans. Fogelson mentioned ongoing opportunities for both John Wick and the Saw franchise, indicating that interest and potential are growing.

Future Prospects and Timelines

The timeline for such ambitious projects is still uncertain. Even if deals with a triple-A developer are in place, game development of this scale can take several years. Thus, enthusiasts might need to wait until 2030 or beyond to experience these games. Nevertheless, both John Wick and Saw have significant potential to shine in the gaming world.

We’d likely have to wait until 2030 or even longer to actually play these games.
