Death Stranding 2: On The Beach brings back the cherished apocalypse delivery genre. Five years after the last game, this sequel and continuation retains the distinct style and varied mechanics of the series but features several rival changes. Here’s a complete run down on the most notable differences between these two Death Stranding games.
New Horizons to Explore
In the past, players assisted Sam in reuniting America by connecting its cities through the Chiral Network. Death Stranding 2 will have the story cross into other countries, as the network will stretch to Mexico and then finally to Australia via a Plate Gate. Although you will still find elements such as river crossing and player-built objects, the sequel will feature new environments and climates where you can encounter new characters.
Drawbridge Takes Over Fragile Express
Instead of Fragile Express, players will now work with Fragile’s new team, Drawbridge. The DHV Magellan a mysterious new ship makes it easy to travel anywhere in Australia. The DHV Magellan lets users carry all their materials, equipment and vehicles when travelling, unlike the beach jump method in the previous game. However, remember that Lost Cargo which needs to be delivered manually doesn’t deal well with Magellan’s fast-paced selling method and may lose delivery score points.

Evolving Environments and Calamities
The weather differences in the original game are no more. Death Stranding 2 features a real-time day-and-night cycle and major biome changes throughout the game. Due to rain, earthquake, dust storm, and bushfire due to chiral cinder appear on all levels of river and they have to work constantly expanding and will often match those in previous versions. The players will have to face an almost similar challenge during their deliveries due to natural disasters including BTs.
Discovering Wildlife Down Under
Quiet walks through the Australian wilderness in Death Stranding 2 reveal an addition: local wildlife. The game has added a new dynamic that was absent in the previous game, where players can find these new creatures and move them to Animal Sanctuaries to save them from extinction.
Combat Reimagined
Death Stranding 2 still seems to feature the same traversal elements as its predecessor, new ways to engage enemies, sneak around, and manage cargo.
Close Combat Enhancements
Players will find more opportunities to be in the fight with new gear and abilities. Death Stranding 2 combat will include blocking, dodging, and counterattacking options to make the scene robust. Easy access to Electric Rod weapons and cargo as melee items adds depth to combat options.
Facing Varied Foes
The sequel has a number of enemies. They are Armoured humans, evolved BTs called Watchers and new Mechs. It is essential for players to choose wisely what weapons will help them cope with the threats they will face.
Expanded Weapons Arsenal
Death Stranding 2 ups the ante on the arsenal front, with lightweight weapons like Decoy Grenades, Pistols and a more powerful Tranquilizer selection. Tranquilizers, which work like the ones in Metal Gear, mean players will have to adapt since silenced guns are harder to get.

Refined Stealth Mechanics
Death Stranding 2 marks a significant improvement in stealth approaches. Players can perform takedowns without any prior equipment of special items. Similar to Despicable Me’s Dollman, a player can easily scout enemy territory without detection. This ally acts like an RPG companion providing options for reconnaissance or distraction.
Vehicle Innovations
The Tri-Cruiser and other new vehicles come with a practical feature that helps gather resources on the move. Using weapons while driving gives your character more options. You can attack or defend while driving and your character won’t stop.
Overhauled Cargo and Storage Systems
A simplified cargo menu for quick inventory management. Fast access to “Auto-arrange Cargo” and “Offload Material” options helps organize delivery for complex deliveries.
Infrastructure and Resource Management
Players can now use a smart monorail system that works with roads and ziplines for more tricky terrain. If other players are engaged and a start to planning is made, a complete network can be built.
Refined Progression System
Porter grades making a comeback, only this time with new Active Perk Array System, or APAS, modifiers that can change depending on how you play. These rewards incentivize players to customize their development across aspects like combat and exploration.
Additional Enhancements and Features
Death Stranding 2 also adds an enhanced ladder, easier corpse management, customizable ziplines, an easy-to-navigate Corpus menu, new interactive dialogue choices, Chiral Creatures, and a travel-friendly music player so you can network while out of combat.
