NetEase is gearing up with the arrival of Marvel Rivals 3.
The upcoming Season 3 of Marvel Rivals The Abyss Awakens has been anticipated by fans for long now. As a follow-up to the exciting features in Season 2: Hellfire Gala, this new update is packed with content that will include lots of new characters, maps, and skins. Here’s what to expect as the countdown to the release is on.
Release Date and Key Details
Marvel Rivals Season 3 will kickoff on Friday, July 11, 2025, following the server maintenance (1 AM PDT / 4 AM EST / 9 AM GMT). Players will be getting new content soon according to the in-game timer since Season 2 will end.
NetEase wants to make Marvel Rivals interesting and has announced that they will be releasing a new hero every month starting this season. Season 3 will last two months instead of three. There will be some content updates mid-season. Fortnite Season 3.5 mid-season update will launch on August 8, 2025, just one month into the season. With the rapid release cycle, we intend to launch at least one hero and at times new maps each month.
If you’ve been following the game’s story, it looks like Knull might attack Wakanda thanks to Blade’s arrival. Leaks have spoiled Venomized costumes so this must be all about these spawns.
New Heroes to Anticipate
Marvel Rivals Season 3 hints at Blade and Phoenix arrivals agreed on ongoing hints in the game and credible leaks. Since his skills are already leaked, looks like Blade is definitely making his debute at the beginning of the new season. Blade is an interesting character and will be interesting because of his vampiric abilities.
Here’s a glimpse into Blade’s alleged abilities.
- A close attack using Dracula’s Sword to cut the enemy with Blade Chopper.
- Hunting Gun (main attack) – Long-range shotgun blast, explosion shrapnel.
- Damage Block, a move that allows for a defensive sword stance to absorb damage from the front during an alternate attack.
- After gathering strength for a moment, it dashes out quickly and with great force, causing devastation.
- Step and Chop (ability): A quick motion for either shooting you apply reduced healing or slashing to slow enemies.
- Blood Liberation (ability): Uses vampiric powers from Dracula’s blood. Can’t be healed, but damage restores your power.
There are chances that Phoenix will also come on board side to Blade delays. Phoenix, or Jean Grey, is believed to join as part of the Season 3.5 update, which features themes of symbiotes and the cosmos. If they try to sidestep Blade again, there is a good chance we can see Captain Marvel instead. She ticks some of the thematic boxes of the season and she certainly fits the bill in terms of popularity and long-anticipated appearances.
Conclusion
Marvel Rivals Season 3 is ready to bring you more intensity with a full slate of new characters and other interesting stuff. As the date gets nearer, the anticipation only ramps up. Stay tuned for more updates!
