Marvel Rivals, a popular hero shooter, is gaining attention in the gaming world after securing a nomination for Stream Game of the Year at the 2025 Streamer Awards. This accolade highlights the game’s rising influence since its launch in December 2024. The awards, organized by QTCinderella, celebrate outstanding contributions in live-streaming, with the ceremony set to air on December 7th at 11 PM BST on her Twitch channel. Voting for fan favorites continues until November 30th.
The Competition for Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals will face stiff competition from games like Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, R.E.P.O., Peak, and Schedule I in its category. Despite being a newcomer, Marvel Rivals has caught the interest of esports organizations, including Sentinels, NAVI, and 100 Thieves, who have all established teams throughout 2025. However, Sentinels recently paused operations, citing the need for team incentives from NetEase Games.
Marvel Rivals’ Streaming Impact
Marvel Rivals recently concluded its first Ignite series, with Virtus.pro claiming a significant portion of the $1m prize pool at the Grand Finals. The event drew 78,171 peak viewers and amassed nearly 1.4 million hours watched over 50 hours. Though it didn’t make the top 20 most-watched games on major streaming platforms, it still achieved 12.6 million hours watched on Twitch, underscoring its growing popularity. Notably, it’s the only esports title nominated for Stream Game of the Year, with a unique category for Marvel Rivals Streamer of the Year, featuring nominees like Flats, Bigpuffer, bogur, supertf, and TimTheTatman.
