Massive Nintendo Switch 2 Heist Rocks Colorado

Earlier this month, a semi-truck was robbed of 3,000 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in Colorado. The incident has raised concern. Authorities are trying to find the thieves responsible for the robbery of over $1 million worth of items.

Nintendo Switch 2’s Explosive Launch

The Nintendo Switch 2 was launched in June 2025 and has already become one of the fastest-selling consoles in history. Though it launched without any major single-player title, it became quite popular and was eventually sold for high prices. Because of their high value they would make an attractive target for thieves.

Details of the Robbery

On June 9, a driver pulled into Love’s, a gas station in Bennet, Colorado, for an inspection of the truck’s trailer.  He discovered that the trailer had been opened.  According to the sheriff’s office spokesperson Anders Nelson, they confirmed that 2,810 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles were stolen. The driver of the truck delivering a load to a GameStop in Grapevine, Texas, said he did not know what exactly was in the trailer; only that it was gaming or toy-related items. Thieves stole several pallets of consoles leaving the driver and authorities dumbfounded.

Investigation Underway

The police have not yet determined exactly where or when the theft occurred. It is unclear whether it happened at Bennet or somewhere else along the truck’s route. Over $1 million worth shipwreck discovered; active search for suspects on but no arrests have been made so far.

Impact on Gamers

With consoles headed to places like Grapevine, Texas, fans may have found it difficult to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 at launch because of the theft. Gamers are highly likely to be annoyed due to significant scarcity because of the $450 pricing and huge demand of the console.

What’s Next for Nintendo?

As the investigation unfolds, the gaming community is hopeful for answers following the stolen consoles incident, along with their recovery. This heist serves as a reminder of the Nintendo Switch 2’s massive appeal and the lengths some will go to get their hands on it.
